More Venice - not a bad thing. After breakfasting at our hotel it was back through St Mark’s Square to St Mark’s Basilica where the treasures on display where complimented by the views available of Venice by scaling to the upper balcony. After a bit of lunch overlooking the Grand Canal and a touch of shopping we headed to the Academia Galleries for our intake of masterpieces including works by Titian, Tintoretto and the Bellini boys - not a Vermeer in sight. Following the obligatory aperitif it was back to freshen up for our evening entertainment - The Barber of Seville at the Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto. This was very up close and personal as each act moved to different rooms of the palace with the audience virtually being part of the performance. Quite alarming at times was the unevenness of the floor from room to room. I followed up with a few post event lagers at the American Bar talking to a family of glassblowers from The Isle of Mann.
